Golf News | German Open Place for Wie

Michelle Wie is due to appear at this week’s German Open in Munich, a significant fixture for the 18 year old who has been limited to only 2 competitions this year so far due to injury. It will also be the first time that the American will take part in a full-field Ladies European Tour event. Wie was offered a sponsor's invitation to play in Germany and will be teeing  off in the company of German,  Martina Eberl from Germany and Paula Marti of Spain.

Wie has suffered from along-term wrist complaint which has kept her out of a good deal of competitive meetings. Despite her early promising career Wie is still not a member of any of the professional golf tours, though she has attended 2 US events this year. Wie sees this as an opportunity to start competing and building up her strength to tournament level once again.

Towards the latter end of 2007 Wie conceded a run of bad luck, injuring both hands and only making three of the cuts that she ventured. The mounting pressure and strain led to Wie painfully admitting she does not see herself ever regaining full fitness in February.
