with LPGA in 2008
Increasing one’s presence in golf for 2008 is
exactly the plan for Standford Financial Group who is planning to
team-up with LPGA and a high-profile player from its impressive
portfolio.
Having invested heavily in 2007 to become title
sponsor of PGA Tour’s Stanford St. Jude Championship, the
financial services company has confirmed that it’s planning to
host the Stanford International, a first in seven years for the LPGA.
An endorsement has following between the reigning champion Morgan
Pressel – the first lady golfer to wear a Stanford branded golf shirt.
Additional endorsers include Vijay Singh, David Toms and Camilo
Villegas.
Featuring 112 professional golfers with 112 amateurs
in a 54-hole stroke-play tournament – the new LPGA event will be
held at Fairmont Turnberry Isle between April 24th to 27th. Once
36-holes are completed, the competition will be reduced to 70
professional golfers with 20 teams. All player’s of the LPGA will
be competing for a slice of a $2-million price fund kitty.
