A double act of Irish victories has been converted into a hat trick
by Peter Lawrie’s triumph in the Open de España at Real
Club de Golf de Sevilla. This is Lawrie’s first European Tour
title which followed Damien McGrane’s breakthrough victory at the
Volvo China Open, Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland broke a
two-and-a-half year run by winning the BMW Asian Open held last week.
Each of the Irish victors have provided crowd captivating play,
McGrane stormed to his title with a nine shot margin whereas Lawrie
finished the champion in a high temperature head to head with home

holes.
Lawrie, a Dubliner, was the first Irishman to win the Sir Henry
Cotton Rookie of the Year Award, has spoken of his pride to continue
the victories being taken home to Ireland. He has commented on his
gaining confidence having seen himself playing well over recent games
and referring to the previous wins of McGrane and Clarke he feels he
