Golf News | Dougherty has impressive start in Malaysia

During the opening round of the Malaysian Open England's Nick Dougherty carded a 62 narrowly missing the opportunity of the first round of 59 in European Tour history. Dougherty got birdies on 10 of his first 13 holes though went on to par, the remaining five finishing on 10 under. Dougherty successfully displayed a run of seven birdies in a row and avoided any bogeys on his scorecard. Dougherty reflects that, as the lowest score on a round, it signifies a good start tot her tournament. He also acknowledges that he had considered the glory of historic 59 after moving to 10 under, with five holes to play.

The Malaysian Open took place on the Kota Permai course in Kuala Lumpur where British golfer Simon Dyson and Australia's Marcus Fraser were two shots behind in second place after rounds of 64 and the Argentinan Daniel Vancsik finished with a 65.
