Golf News - Els and Roberts Reunite for Open Championship

The Ernie Els team that saw the three major victories have come back together in time for the Open Championship next month.

South African Els’s saw glory in the previous events with his caddie Ricci Roberts, but for the previous 18-months in a partnership with Irishman JP Fitzgerald. Els took the decision to end this relationship after a finishing in 14th-place finish at the US Open.

In entering the Open Championship Els is being tipped as one to watch at Royal Birkdale in the absence of Tiger Woods. Els has spoken confidently about his prospects in the run up to the next event. Commenting that despite the disappointing result at the US Open he feels his game was strong and he was playing well.

Els has spoken about his apparent short comings in that he failed to sink a putt first time throughout last month’s open. Though has said that work concentrating on his putter work will bring him up to a standard to out shine anyone else in the field.
