The new development of adjustable golf clubs is said to be targeting the golf fanatic who are so involved they just can’t help but meddle with their golf clubs.

Up until now it has only been the professionals who have had customisation at their finger-tips, though in the form of a specialised club fitter travelling with them. As technology has developed to allow the technicians to switch shafts or change the angle of a driver's club face before a round, using glue and a heat gun. Manufacturers have seen an opportunity in the market.

A change in the rules has meant a change in opportunity and clubs, players will have access to clubs with easily adjustable parts, thus levelling the playing field.  By customizing clubs, players can play to their strengths and diminish weaknesses. For example, use a heavier shaft to produce more accuracy where a lighter shaft can adds distance by enabling a faster swing.

Though not all manufacturers have utilised this new technology Nike Inc. and Huntington Beach, have not developed their own adjustable clubs, as they don’t feel demand would justify it. Previous ventures into such an idea in 2004 found that consumers rarely used the technology, sticking with the same shafts, rendering the club a novelty design.

Though Nike  are secure in there stance of being slow to enter the race to produce this range of clubs as they already uses adjustable clubs in its personal fitting systems for individual customers. They can therefore watch the potential for the market to call for them to put them into production.
