Golf Equipment | Nike | Nike Appoints Industry Expert

Michael Pai has been announced as the global category director for golf balls and golf bags by Nike Golf. The management restructure will come into effect as of April 14. The new responsibilities taken on by Pai will include determining a strategic direction and taking control of the overall daily management of both golf ball and golf bag businesses.

Pai had previously held the role of vice president of marketing, advertising and tour promotions for rival golf equipment manufacturer Srixon USA. As such Pai was expected to establish and raise the brand awareness of Srixon, therefore having a direct influence over the increase of distribution, whilst developing tour support. Significant moves made by Pai include the signing of the PGA Tour player Jim Furyk, who can be seen in Srixon branded merchandise and using their golf clubs at all events.

Seen by many as an industry veteran, the well respected Pai has also been instrumental in another industry giant; Callaway Golf. Having worked at Maxfli prior to his appointment at Callaway, Pai had the experience of launching the Revolution Franchise. The skills and lessons from which he took on into Callaway, Srixon and now Nike will utilise his knowledge.
