Pakistan cricket player, Mohammad Yousuf just keeps on breaking the records in cricket

Mohammad Yousuf recently broke yet another cricket world record when he beat West Indian Viv Richards' record of seven hundreds in just one calendar year on the first day of the final Test against the West Indies . Yousuf says he gets his inspiration from fellow countrymen, Javed Miandad, and is certainly doing something right with his golden cricket equipment!

In a recent interview, Yousuf was quoted saying, "I am delighted to be able to break Richards' record and to be ranked alongside him. He was the greatest player of the century � but my inspiration has always been Miandad. I have styled myself on him." Miandad, a former captain, played his cricket equipment in 124 Tests and remains Pakistan 's highest test run-getter on record.

Yousuf made 102 runs in the Test against the West Indies which was his third successive century against the West Indians, to break the seven-in-a-year record held jointly by Richards and Sri Lanka 's Aravinda de Silva. He needs 47 more runs to break another record held by Richards for most runs in a calendar year since 1976, so is training furiously with his cricket equipment in the hope that his aim will become reality soon.

Yousuf, who has scored 22 hundreds in all, said his most memorable hundred out of the record 8 hundreds he scored in 2006, was the 202 runs he scored at Lords cricket ground in England. He commented that the reason for this was because England was the home of cricket and its equipment, therefore it was a great memory for him. Yousuf's next ambition is to be part of a team to beat Australia in a Test.

Other records which Yousuf holds for his infamous brandishing of his cricket equipment are:

• Most hundreds in a calendar year (9)
• Highest run scorer in a calendar year (1788 runs in 2006)
• Highest average of any Pakistani batsman (56.65)
• 3rd highest career average (56.65) from players still playing (min of 20 tests).
• 5 hundreds in consecutive tests (joint 2nd with Kallis)
• 6th Pakistani batsman to score a century in each innings of a test match.
• Joint 5th for most runs in an over, 24 runs off a N. Boje over in Cape Town .
• 3rd fastest (in balls) test fifty made in 27 balls vs SA in SA.
• Joint (with Viv and Sachin) 6th fastest player to reach 6000 test runs.
• 2nd best centuries to matches ratio from players with over 20 test centuries. The only non-Aussie in the top 4!
