Cricket Equipment – Records – Collingwood’s One Day Record

Cricket Equipment – Records – Collingwood’s One Day Record

If you’re a fan of Paul Collingwood, read on to hear about his record success with his cricket equipment.

At an infamous cricket match held at Trent Bridge in England, Paul Collingwood broke a record with his cricket equipment, becoming the first man to score a century and take six wickets in a one-day international. It was one of the most successful matches for England in history as they thrashed Bangladesh by 168 runs.

Paul Collingwood hit 112 not out, sharing a stand of 210 with Andrew Strauss as the England cricket team tallied a national record 391-4 in the day-night match at Trent Bridge. Mohammad Ashraful smashed 94 from 52 balls but Collingwood had the equipment to bowl the opposition out for 223, taking 6-31.

Strauss's 152 runs was also the third-highest on record by an English batsman in a one-day game, but this achievement paled into significance when Collingwood notched the second-fastest century by an Englishman and then recorded England's best bowling figures ever with his golden cricket equipment!

Paul David Collingwood was born on the 26th May 1976 at Shotley Bridge, Durham. His is vice-captain of Durham cricket team and also plays for England. Collingwood mixes natural strokeplay with his batting equipment with reliable medium-pace bowling, making him a great all rounder. At 5'11" and an athletic and highly skilled fielder, he usually fields at backward point, and has drawn comparisons with the likes of South African Jonty Rhodes and other outstanding record holding international fielders.

Collingwood joined his local county side at an early age and quickly became an favourite amongst his cricket chums. He was swift to make an impression with his cricket equipment on the first-class game, taking the record wicket of former England all-rounder David Capel with his first ball, and scoring 91 in his first innings against Northamptonshire.

The Ashes
In the 2006 New Year's Honours List, Collingwood was awarded an MBE for his role in the successful Ashes victory.Upon this newfound success with his cricket equipment, Collingwood was selected for both the Champions Trophy squad and Ashes touring party 2006/07.

Listed below are further records which Collingwood has achieved with the help of his golden cricket equipment:
• 1000+ Test runs in a calendar year in 2006

• 4/22 bowling figures in single Twenty20 International match vs. Sri Lanka in 2006

• 6/31 and 112* in a single ODI vs, Bangladesh in 2005

• First Durham CCC player to score a Test double century for England

• First English Batsman to score a double century in Australia since Wally hammond in 1936, and only the 3rd Englishman in history to do so.

• Took part in the English 4th Wicket partnership record against Australia. Making 206 in a Partnership of 310 with Kevin Pietersen.
