Tiger Woods has been chosen by US Ryder Cup Captain as one of his four captains’ picks for the US Ryder Cup Team
The world no 1 was chosen alongside Zach Johnson, Stewart Clink and Rickie Fowler for the team to play against Europe on 1st -3rd November at Celtic Manor, Wales.
They join Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Jeff Overton and Matt Kuchar all of whom qualified for the U.S. team based on points accumulated over a two-year period.
It will be Woods sixth Ryder Cup, but the first one he has had to rely on a Captains Pick to make the team. He has finished top of the Ryder cup Standings every time since his first team in 1997, although he missed the 2008 Ryder Cup as he was recovering from a knee injury
21 year old Rickie Fowler has made history by making it from the Walker Cup to Ryder Cup in just one year. He has won seven out of his eight games in two Walker Cups.
Clink, who won last year’s open and Johnson, the 2007 Masters winner are safe choices and will bring expeirnece into a US side that already had four rookies.
Both Europe and the USA have four team members in the world top ten, but Europe’s line-up has eight in the top 20 compared to the USA which has 7.
