Cricket- Pietersen Dropped From England
Home > News > September 2010 >Cricket- Pietersen Dropped From England

Kevin Pietersen will not be playing cricket for England again this summer.

The England and Wales Cricket Board announced the decision yesterday afternoon, although Pietersen had already made the announcement himself via his Twitter feed several hours earlier, which was removed just minutes later.

Pietersen has struggled in all forms of cricket since returning from the World Twenty 20 Cup in the Caribbean in May. He has only scored one half century all summer; that was in the second Test against Pakistan when he scratched together 80.

It means that Pietersen will miss the two Twenty20 matches and five One Day Internationals against Pakistan.
Instead he will be playing for Surrey, where he is on loan from Hampshire for the rest of the season in the hope that he try to regain his form for the forthcoming Ashes series this winter in Australia.

The Twenty20 squad will be captioned again by Paul Collingwood and with the exception of Pietersen, James Treadwell, Ajmal Shahzad and Michael Lumb who is injured will be the same as played in the Caribbean.

Steve Davies will be bought in as the wicket keeper who will play alongside Kieswetter, who is not included in the One Day International  Squad

The ODI squad will be captained by Andrew Strauss and will include Jonathan Trott and Ajmal Shahzad
