Cricket-ICC Report Expected Within Days
Home > News > August 2010 >Cricket-ICC Report Expected Within Days

A report of the alleged “spot-fixing” by some members of the Pakistan Cricket Team is expected within days.

The International Cricket Council anti-corruption team is preparing the report, while the Police carrying out a separate investigation.

There has been doubts cast about whether the current Tour should continue, but the ICC has confirmed that at this stage it will still go ahead.

The first match against England is a Twenty 20 on Sunday and the ICC is hopeful that there will be an initial report by then.

The allegations have centred on three no balls bowled by Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif, which News of the World reporters say were bowled at pre-set times. Captain Salman Butt has also been named in the alleged scandal.

The ICC has guaranteed that if players are found to be guilty, then appropriate punishments will be handed out. At this moment in time none of the players involved are to be suspended, meaning that they could play with this hanging over them.

England Captain Andrew Strauss has admitted to having mixed feeling about the forthcoming cricket games "I honestly think that the best thing to do is let the dust settle on this," he said “It’s all new and raw and it's easy to get quite emotional about things right at the moment. For all of us, it's better to see how things pan out”
